Recipe of Sarso Ka Saag

  • 500gm chopped sarso(mustard leaves)
  • 300gm chopped Spinach leaves
  • 2 tsp Makki (Maize Flour)
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • 2 pinch asafoetida
  • 1/2 tsp red chilly powder
  • salt according to taste
  • 1 tsp ginger paste
  • 2 green chillies
  • 2 medium size onion( finely chopped)

  1. Wash and clean Sarso and spinach leaves in running water.
  2. Boil these leaves in boiling water in open pan and keep aside for cooling.
  3. Now make a puree of boiled leaves and green chillies in a blender.
  4. For tempering heat ghee in pan.
  5. Add asafoetida and onion to the pan.Saute this for 1-2 minutes.
  6. Add ginger garlic paste and red chilly powder and again saute this for 2-3 minutes.
  7. Now put maize flour and saute this for 1-2 minutes.
  8. Then put sarso puree in the pan and mix it well.
  9. Now add salt and cook this on low flame till water evaporates from the pan.
  10. But keep stirring the saag after every2-3 minutes.
  11. Now your saag is ready. Garnish this with white butter or 1 tbsp of ghee.
